3 Years Ago Today You Were Due

But instead, you decided to come two days early. Happy Birthday my sweet, little, Maddie!

Each year Maddie paints a canvas on her birthday and then we hang them on her wall. I love watching her explore the paint and textures. This year her Daddy played a major part in her creativity. He walked around with her finding little objects to paint with, several flowers and sticks.

check out the cat's feet to the side :)

the final master piece...just perfect!

No Real Title Just My Ramblings

Have you ever seen that picture of yourself and went, "Oh My Gosh, how did I let myself get like that???" I just had that moment watching a video my husband taped of our daughter seeing a rainbow. It was a great moment caught since she was so thrilled about her first rainbow but the split second I saw of myself, my body, has left a scar in my retinas that may never heal.

I know, I've just had a baby. And I know, I'm working out. And I even know that it takes time...but damn, time takes time.

I saw a commercial last night, the and it flashed up a picture of a woman, not skinny, posing very confidently from the 1920's. I realized that I don't pose confidently in any pictures, no matter what size I am. I realized that I've never felt comfortable with my body. How sad, to be trapped in this vessel for so many years and yet to never feel comfortable being myself. No, I'm not perfect and I certainly would like to look differently at this moment but why can't I still feel good about myself in the mean time?

Why is my value of myself placed on my weight? It shouldn't be....

Got Tape?? Shoplet Duck Tape Review

Duck Printed Duct Tape
Just the other day Maddie was screaming, "tape, tape, I need tape, please!" She was trying to stuff 5 bouncy balls into an Elmo game and needed the tape to keep the door shut. I ran and grabbed the tape bag, let her sort through the different textures and widths and she decided on blue painters tape, too bad I didn't have this jazzy Zebra Printed Duck Tape available at the time or I'm sure it would have been her first choice. :)

And, who doesn't love animal print duck tape? As a preschool teacher I've actually used duck tape in different situations in the room, it's a great way to outline floor boarders, and again, the kids would love the different prints. carries a wide variety of office and home supplies such as Duck Tape  and other tape dispensers. Speaking of which, along with the duck tape I received I also had the opportunity to try the Duck EZ Start Premium Packaging Tape and the Duck EZ Start Premium Packaging Tape with Dispenser

I was pretty excited about this review since Maddie has become pen pals with a gal in England, and I most definitely could use some nice packing tape with dispenser. I was impressed with the ease of setting the tape up, simply by pulling the start tap and lacing it through the dispenser, you're ready to start taping. The tape flowed smoothly and easily and was released by sharp metal teeth at the end of the dispenser. The dispensers are durable plastic and the tape doesn't split or crack as I've had happen with other brands of clear tape.

Overall, I'm very happy with the quality, durability, and ease of these products. I look forward to using them through out my house for different projects and adventures. :)

Let's All Sing It Together: "We Gotta Pee Pee On The Potty!"

It's true what they say, eventually we all learn to use the potty. :) I love that Maddie feels so comfortable to take off her own diaper, climb up on the potty, and use it all by herself. She may not go every time and we're still in diapers, but I'm happy to say the end is in sight.

Way to go, Girl!

Motivated Monday: Bye-Bye Birdie

In a little over 4 weeks I'll be returning back to work. My class this year is hard. My stress level was out the window before I left for maternity leave. I've thought of several ways not to go back but in the end, it seems this is where life is taking me at the moment. And let me just say, I love what I do, it's just sometimes you go through patches that aren't so satisfying.

And so to lessen my anxieties about returning back to work, I decided I'd treat myself to a new hair cut, new make up, and make even a few new outfits all geared toward going back to the classroom. I have about 10 preggo pounds to lose and so I don't want to feel "fat" that first day I walk back into school, so making sure I feel comfortable in my clothes and in my look will help ease me back in. I hope. :)

And, in the mean time, the weather for the next two weeks is to be gorgeous so I have no reason to not be outside, walking and possibly running. :) This is Sean's last week on 3rd shift and I'm really looking forward to having some workout time {alone} during the day.

This week's workout schedule:
Monday: 5 minutes with the bar, 20 minutes on the bike, family walk.
Tuesday: 5 minutes with the bar, 20 minutes on the bike, pilates.
Wednesday: 5 minutes with the bar, 20 minutes on the bike, family walk.
Thursday: 5 minutes with the bar, 20 minutes on the bike, family walk.
Friday: 5 minutes with the bar, 20 minutes on the bike, family walk.
Saturday: family is in town!
Sunday: family is in town!

Thankful Thursday: The Baby Boy

I'm finally able to sit down and write out my thoughts and share my thankfulness. I've been trying to do this for the past 3 weeks but something else always seems to jump in the way.

First off, I'm so thankful for family. Even though I've been blessed with another wonderful child, these last few weeks have been difficult for me and having family to simply call and check on me has made a wonderful difference.
Secondly, I'm so thankful to have gotten this time to spend with my children and extended family. It's an opportunity that I looked for forward through out my whole pregnancy and it's a time that I'll always treasure.

And lastly, I'm enjoy this warmer weather. I know come June/July I'm gonna really regret this hot year but right now, still in winter and having 70 degree temps, well, it sure makes playing outside a little easier. :)

30 Day Green Smoothie Challenge: Day 5

1 frozen banana
1 large tbsp peanut butter
2 teaspoons flaxseed
2/3 cup water
large handful spinach

This smoothie gets a nice 3 stars from me. The spinach seems to leave a bitter after taste, maybe next time I'll use a smaller helping. Other than that, the peanut butter gives a nice fullness to the drink. Enjoy!

30 Day Green Smoothie Challenge: Day 4

-1 small soft pear
--1 handful of spinach leaves
--1/2 cup cold water
--1 small banana
--2 Tblsp ground flax seeds

I really enjoyed the sweet pear flavor of this smoothie. It was still a soft taste so I only gave it three out of 5 stars.
